We spent a day in Seaside this weekend to take advantage of the perfect weather/pre-tourist season and it was incredible! We spent the whole day riding bikes, playing at the beach, eating good food, eating good cupcakes, and wandering aimlessly around town. Seaside is the utopian little beach community used in the movie, The Truman Show. It’s made up of the most adorable homes and shops all built around a central town square right along the beach. I really didn’t take many pictures because it was one of those times when you’re just having too much fun to pull out the camera. Gotta love those days!

Coming up later this week…Baby Grady and the Fairchild boys! (not a folk band but a great name for one)

…places! I recently pulled together a collection of my favorite location photos for a project. Luckily, most of my favorite place pictures were taken right here in Pensacola. Thank heavens I like my adopted hometown so much.
I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to some great places – usually with the intention of taking tons of sightseeing pictures. But my favorite shots are always the details and the people that make a location unique. For instance, this woman I met in a village in Macedonia. She was just baking bread in a traditional outdoor oven. Nothing unusual for her, but not something you’d come across in Florida. So it became my ideal Macedonia photo (and one of my all-time favorites).
And sometimes, my favorite shots of a trip are a little more grandiose than an old woman baking bread. This one, from a trip to Russia a few years ago, slipped by unnoticed in my Lightroom gallery until recently. I don’t know why I never picked it as a favorite on prior glances, but it’s grown on me.
I’m always searching for new “favorite places” so if you’ve got suggestions, post them to me…especially if they’re in driving distance of Pensacola! See more Favorite Places at www.mlchapman.com/places/gallery.html.
